With the arrival of the first significant snow of this winter to East Central Illinois, you may have some moments where you wish for summer. The Urbana Park District is helping those who are already planning for summer 2012 with a free Summer Camp Open House.

From 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 19 at the Phillips Recreation Center, parents and kids can meet camp program leaders and learn about a variety of camp offerings, including the Counselor-in- Training and Junior Counselor programs, Arts Camp, Sports and Aquatic Camp and Nature Day Camp.

While you are there, play a few games, eat pizza and drink lemonade or hot chocolate. The district invites you to ask questions and to enjoy photos from past camps to get a feel for what happens at camp.

Participants can get a jump on summer and register on site to take advantage of early bird camp prices, which are only available now through April 30.
